"Climate change" or "climate crisis"? How can the discussion of existing problems help in understanding their importance, urgency and scale, or urge to immediate action? At such moments, journalism and analytics can play a significant role, since the language and way of reporting can have either positive or negative impact on the situation. The Week of Environmental Journalism was aimed at educating media representatives, journalists and bloggers on the basics of environmental journalism.
For the second year in a row, CABAR.asia Media School brings together students, journalists and media professionals on one platform in order to educate marathon participants on fact-checking and the importance of countering disinformation. By the end of the Quest, students guided by mentors presented their projects in the new media format that are to be published on the Media School platform.
Intensive training on blogging
The training was held in three days, which were filled with theory and practice. Participants learned how to create a personal brand, how to develop a promotion strategy, write a concept, how to deal with burnout and hate online, and much more. In addition, the participants analysed their own blog with the trainer and received feedback.
Blogging with Elena Nechaeva for participants from Central Asia (online)
Elena Nechaeva is a journalist, producer, editor, show host, author of documentaries, blogger and co-founder of the Media Space Fund, which is aimed at the creation and development of new media, as well as visual content. In 2019, she created her own YouTube channel, "Black Box White Noise". In a year, the channel gathered 2 million views.
The large volume of information consumed every day in addition to so many distractions, makes it difficult to focus on one particular piece of content (such as an article or a video).
The podcast format, on the contrary, is portable and convenient. You can listen to it in the background, while doing other things, which helps saving time.
The podcasts are only gaining popularity in Central Asia, and are mainly created by enthusiasts. The purpose of the training was to enable interested people (media representatives, bloggers, radio hosts, beginner and advanced podcasters and enthusiasts) to launch and promote a high quality and competitive podcast.
